February 5 - Mr. Rabon Wesberry, age 89, of the Ponderosa Community, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at his home after an extended illness. Born in the Ohoopee Community, he lived more than fifty years of his life in the Ponderosa Community. He was employed at the Pal Theater in Lyons for twenty years, and retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation after twenty-eight years. He was an active member of the Liberty Baptist Church of Lyons. Mr. Wesberry is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Ethel Futch Wesberry of Ponderosa; one daughter Marilyn Wesberry Faircloth grandson, Jonathan Rabon Faircloth all of Effingham County, and numerous nieces and nephews
The funeral service will be held Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Liberty Baptist Church with Reverend Don Gibbs and Reverend Michael Plowman officiating. Burial will follow at the Lyons City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Martin was the son of the late Robert & Gladys Crews Martin. He was born in Uvalda, GA, lived in Florida for a number of years and had lived in Soperton since 1996. He was a retired carpenter. Survivors include his companion, Mitzie Davis of Soperton; two brothers, Donnie Martin of Pahokee, FL & Kenny Martin of Avon Park, FL; two sisters, Sina Mosley of Vidalia & Sylvia Goodson of Thomasville. Higgs Funeral Home of Soperton has charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Miriam Taylor Boyd, age 80, of Vidalia, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hermon “Hank” Boyd; two sons, William “Bill” Taylor and Tom Boyd; grandson, Brandon Boyd; brothers, Hubert and Bill Taylor; and a son-in-law, Joey Mitchell. Mrs. Boyd is survived by three children, Pat Mitchell, David Boyd, and Susie Boyd Bruce and her husband Kelly all of Vidalia; two sisters, Ollie Mae Crosby of Columbia and Frances Howard of Florence, and South Carolina.
The memorial service will be held Sunday, August 11th at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Glenn Waters officiating. Burial will follow later in the Pinecrest Cemetery in Vidalia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service and will assemble at the residence of a daughter, Susie at 165 Brooks Kirkland Road in Vidalia.
We regret to announce the death of Mrs. Lelia Mae Dallis whose death occurred on August 6, 2013 (8-6-13) at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia, Ga. Mrs. Lelia Mae Dallis was born on September 25, 1939 in Glenwood, Georgia.She entered into Holy Matrimony to Mr. Herman Dallis, Jr. on August 5, 1960. She is survived by Herman Dallis III of Mt. Vernon, Darren Dallis and Rodney Dallis, both of Atlanta, Ga. One sister: Doris (Russell) Walker of Lyons, Ga. One extended daughter Alberta Wilson, 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2013 (8-11-13) at 2:00 p.m. from the Sanctuary of Evergreen True-Vine Holiness unto the Lord Church in Vidalia, Georgia.
